A simplified guide to understanding the coding for Seiko’s SRPD series watches:

  1. Prefix “SRPD”: This remains constant for all models in this series.
  2. Next two digits: These loosely correlate with the dial and bezel color, but there are overlaps and exceptions.
  3. “K” in the code: This is a constant element across all models.
  4. Digit after “K”: Indicates the type of strap or bracelet.
    • K1: Standard (bracelet type not specified)
    • K2: Stainless steel bracelet
    • K3: Variant of stainless steel bracelet (less common)
    • K4: Silicone strap

*Please note, there are nuances that this system doesn’t capture perfectly, such as bezel style variations.

Quick Reference:

  • Blue Dial: Codes 51, 53
  • Black Dial: Codes 55, 57, 65, 76, 77, 79, 83
  • Orange Dial: Code 59
  • Green Dial: Codes 61, 63
  • Strap Types: K1 (Standard), K2 (Stainless Steel), K3 (Variant of Stainless Steel), K4 (Silicone)

*This guide provides a broad idea of the watch model based on its code but won’t provide a perfect description in all cases.

Here are two examples applying the rules:

  1. SRPD57K2: Here’s how we can interpret this code:
    • SRPD: Identifies the watch as part of the Seiko 5 Sports SRPD series.
    • 57: This watch will have a black dial based on our guide.
    • K2: Indicates that this watch has a stainless steel bracelet.

So, the SRPD57K2 would be a Seiko 5 Sports watch with a black dial and a stainless steel bracelet.

  1. SRPD61K1: Interpreting this code gives us:
    • SRPD: Again, we know this is a Seiko 5 Sports SRPD series watch.
    • 61: According to our guide, this watch should feature a green dial.
    • K1: This code does not specify the type of bracelet, so we can assume it’s standard.

Therefore, the SRPD61K1 would be a Seiko 5 Sports watch with a green dial and a standard bracelet or strap.
